Today was not knowing where to begin. It was weeding the asparagus patch and deciding it was OK to pull out a few of the daisies. Today was putting on my mask, getting the bread and the pretzel. It was homemade egg salad over greens from the garden. It was watching her eat that popsicle and the chocolate dripping down her chin. It was wishing I had my camera to capture that lovely and messy moment of childhood. Today was sitting in the rocking chair with my feet up on the edge of the railing while eating my own popsicle. It was reading a few pages from my book while they were napping. Today was boredom, clarity, boundaries. Today was slicing all the apples, being thankful that there was just enough.
